North Valley Trails

The North Valley Trails offers over 120 km of classic and skate skiing trails in the heart of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area in the mountains of central Idaho. Spectacular scenery, long seasons and professionally groomed trails attract skiers from all over the world to the North Valley Trails Nordic system. With a wide variety of skiing terrain, skiers can select a trail that fits their ability and interest levels, including skiing with your dog on designated trails. In addition, over 20 km of snowshoe trails are packed each season. 

Galena Lodge, www.galenalodge.com with 56km of surrounding trails, serves as the base camp for the North Valley Trails system offering hearty lunches, lessons from PSIA certified instructors, ski & snowshoe rentals and a full service pro shop. The Lodge also hosts a variety of special events including Full Moon Dinners followed by a moonlit ski or snowshoe, holiday feasts and snowshoe hikes with a naturalist.

Managed by the Blaine County Recreation District in partnership with the Sawtooth National Forest, the North Valley Trails and Galena Lodge are primarily supported through trail fees and private donations. Season and day passes are available from October-April.

The North Valley Trails is also home to the Boulder Mountain Tour which utilizes the 30 km Harriman Trail from Galena Lodge to the Sawtooth National Recreation Area Headquarters.
